This cozy soft cowl is the perfect thing to throw on before heading out into the cold. It’s also a great layering piece to add that touch of 90s velvet style. Holding two strands of yarn together makes it a quick and easy pattern that is also very portable. It’s perfect for beginner knitters and makes a great gift!

Behind the name Woolflower
When searching for what to name this cowl pattern I wanted to incorporate the fact that a seed stitch is the stitch pattern used. This lead me to look at flower names since flowers come from seeds. Then I looked up velvet looking flowers and came across one called the Woolflower. The texture of this flower reminded me of the velvet yarn used to create the cowl pattern and right away I knew it was the perfect name.

Supplies:
- Yarn: Approx. 250 yards of velvet worsted weight yarn (medium weight 4) I used this yarn.
- Needles: US 11/ 8mm, 24” circular knitting needles (This is my favorite interchangeable needle set and cords!)
- Notions: Tapestry Needle, Stitch Marker, Scissors
Gauge:
- 8 sts & 22 rows = 4”/10cm. Worked over seed stitch pattern, unblocked.
Finished Measurements:
- Height: 10″
- Width: 24″
Glossary:
- St(s) = Stitch(es)
BOR = Beginning of Round
CO = Cast On
K = Knit
P = Purl
Rep = Repeat
Directions:
Holding two strands of velvet yarn together, CO 100 sts and join in the round, be careful not to twist sts. Place a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round (BOR).
Round 1: *K1, P1; Rep from * to end of round.
Round 2: *P1, K1; Rep from * to end of round
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until the cowl measures 10” from the cast on edge.
Bind Off:
Bind-off all stitches using a standard bind-off. Due to the nature of this yarn blocking is not required.

Im trying to find the pretty shawl that comes up on Pinterest and takes me to this pattern. It had a rib/brioche pattern at the top, then garter stitch then another rib/brioche pattern ending on the bottom with garter stitch. It is knitted in wool thats mottled colours of lavender, maroon, blues and gold. It’s beautiful and I wanted to do it fir a very good friend who has been diagnosed with cancer. I can’t find it on your website but if it is your design I would be very happy to purchase it.
